Geography and Weather

Canada is located in the western hemisphere and occupies the northern part of North America. It is bordered by the United States to the south, the Atlantic Ocean to the east, the Pacific Ocean, and Arctic Ocean to the north and Alaska to the northwest. Canada's geography is a myriad collection of landscapes that change vastly from one place to the next. A commonly held belief is that Canada is a very snowy country. While this may be true in some parts of the country, the weather is mostly pleasant and different in each region.

Capital and City Centers

Ottawa, located in the province of Ontario, is the Capital City of Canada. Other major city centers that are popular landing spots for new immigrants include: Toronto, Ontario Montreal, Québec Vancouver, British Columbia Calgary, Alberta Ottawa, Ontario Edmonton, Alberta Québec City, Québec

Language

Canada is a bilingual country with English and French as its official languages. But in recent years, with the arrival of immigrants, more languages have started to sprout up. Aside from English and French, the languages which are spoken are: Chinese, Punjabi, and Spanish.

The Economy

Canada prides itself on having the 10th biggest economy in the world. With strict monetary and banking controls, Canada weathered the financial crisis (2008-2010) better than some developed countries, and now finds itself in a competitive position. Major economic sectors include agriculture, mining and resources, and various services industries.
